Camp categories worth considering
- Robotics & STEM camps — best return on time if your child likes to build or ask "how does it work?"
- Coding camps — great for 7+; younger kids benefit more from physical robotics first.
- Sports camps — swimming, football, badminton. Pair with a STEM camp so brain and body both get a workout.
- Art & performing arts — good but often solo screen-free time at home works as a substitute.
What separates a great camp from a filler camp
- Progression across the week. Day 5 should look different from Day 1. Ask for the curriculum.
- A tangible output. A working robot, a coded game, a portfolio. Not just a certificate.
- Small batches. 1:8 or better for hands-on work.
